Tea and biscuits
Afternoon tea was a cup of jasmine tea and La Barquette 3 chatons biscuits. The biscuit is sweet, light and crisp and the apricot jam filling sweet and flavourful. The packaging obviously indicates they are meant for children. Remarkably these biscuits have a freshly-baked taste unusual for packaged biscuits. Ingredients include 18.5% egg, 21.5% apricot pulp plus the usual flour, sugar, glucose/fructose syrup, pectin and flavoring. Unusually there are no preservatives or coloring or any of the crap one usually finds in commercial biscuits. They were an impulse buy from Monoprix and < 1Euro for 120gm. Having grown up with British and NZ biscuits, in taste and variety they have been my gold standard, but their ingredients have always been a little scary, so French biscuits have been a revelation.
