Hotel Chocolat truffles

A pilgrimage to the Kensington store of Hotel Chocolat yielded a number of sampler packages of truffles.

The Fruit and Alcohol selection consisted of a blueberry truffle, port and cherry and red wine and pear selection. I wish I was able to tell with certainty which was which but I guess the alcohol went to my head as they all fit the same profile: boozy and sweet, with the dark chocolate truffle being the most palatable as it was the least sweet. At least they looked pretty, one of Hotel Chocolat's strong points.
I did better with the milk chocolate praline sampler. The salted hazelnut atop the bottom praline marked a peanutty praline with a crunchy base. Good for those who like the peanut/chocolate combo. The centre praline was the smoothest and creamiest and the most classic in taste. Also the most attractive with a thin band of dark chocolate around the base of the cup. The third praline was a basic milk praline with a slightly grainy texture, topped with hazelnuts.
