b) save money by not shopping
Writing down my meals seems to make me more accountable and creative, so I'll be doing this over the next two weeks. I'm reserving $10 for fresh foods or store cupboard purchases, but otherwise no spending!
Thursday, July 23: Day 7
Breakfast: coffee, toast with hardboiled egg, peach
Lunch: wheat pita with pastrami and cheese, cherries
Dinner: chips, ice-cream, cheese, peach, lime yogurt muffin (from freezer)
Snacks: coffee, tea, biscotti
I seem to have done OK, though I still have more veggies to finish before next week. Cupboards still chocka.
Wednesday, July 22: Day 6
Breakfast: coffee, toast with hardboiled egg, peach
Lunch: fried noodles with pork, cabbage and fried tofu
Dinner: peach, chips
Snack: coffee, tea
Spending: $6.51 on afore-mentioned chips and ice-cream plus some actual necessities.
Tuesday, July 21: Day 5
Breakfast: coffee, toast with hardboiled egg, apple
Lunch: wheat pita with pastrami and cheese, cherries
Dinner: egg noodles with napa and fried tofu
Snacks: coffee, tea, Jaffa cake, hazelnut chocolate
Monday, July 20: Day 4
Breakfast: coffee, toast with hardboiled egg, apple
Lunch: fried noodles with pork, cabbage and tofu
Dinner: a very white dinner of pita pizza with cauliflower, potato and cheese
Snacks: coffee, Jaffa cake, pastrami, cherries
Sunday, July 19: Day 3
Breakfast: coffee, hardboiled egg with toast, blackberries
Lunch: courgette, onion and potato "gratin"
Dinner: bean threads with napa and tofu in soup, lychees
Snacks: coffee, biscotti, hazelnut chocolate, apple
Spending: $3.51 on cherries and peaches as I'm running out of fruit
Saturday, July 18: Day 2

Lunch: egg noodles with kailan and squid nuggets
Dinner: plate of Bing cherries, apple, crackers, pastrami, cheese and hardboiled egg.
Snacks: coffee, walnut cranberry biscotti (adapted from this PBS recipe), cold hibiscus tea, chocolate, pistachios
Friday, July 17: Day 1
Breakfast: coffee, toast with butter and hardboiled egg and blackberries.
Lunch: egg noodles with napa and fried tofu, lychees.
Dinner: noodles with stir-fried cabbage and fried tofu, pluot
Snacks: coffee, tea cake, cold hibiscus tea, chocolate
