I've wanted to try this recipe for a long time, as it looked simple yet attractive, and the filling is pretty much what I use for wontons. These photos are a little deceptive as the rolls look a lot better than in real life. In actuality the scallions were too short and the cabbage leaves too small so I had a hard time tying them up. Some came apart while being cooked. Fortunately the filling didn't seep out as feared. I might retry it with minced shrimp and napa leaves. All up an impressive alternative to wontons.
Recipe:
Canh Bap Cai Nhoi Thit (Vietnamese Stuffed Cabbage Soup) from Wandering ChopsticksSubstitutions: used turkey instead of pork; omitted the pureed onion; added dried soaked shiitake mushrooms and coriander to the filling
